Amy Kivell is our female Osteopath who has completed her Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and Masters in Health Science (Osteopathy) at Victoria University. Since graduating, Amy worked for 2 years as an Osteopath in Canada, and recently joined our team at Village Physio in April.
Amy Kivell has a keen interest for helping patients who suffer from sporting injuries, chronic pain (including headaches, back pain, TMJ issues) along with womens health issues, including pregnancy related pains.
Her treatments use a “hands on” holistic approach in locating the cause of the problem, which may not be the site where the symptoms are present. This form of treatment involves making assessments of the various systems that make up the body in order to identify their level of involvement.
Her masters research project involved working on determining the effectiveness of using a foam roller along the iliotibial band (ITB). This has expanded her knowledge on research and treatment techniques associated with issues through the pelvis, hip and knee.
It is Amy’s belief that Osteopathic treatment must also encompass a patients nutrition, gut health, physical activity and stress levels. In addition, she believed in setting goals for her patients in order to have control of their own health and wellbeing.
Amy Kivell is also one of our Pilates instructors at Village Physio. She runs the following classes throughout the week:
